Baggy Maroons

We have had an outstanding start to the season with no less than five (5) baggy maroons being handed out already.  Players earn a Baggy Maroon by scoring 50 or more runs in a single innings or taking 5 wickets in a single innings.

Matthew Carroll & Riley Gillespie – Under 13’s.  Matthew and Riley have been playing at the Club since they were 5 years old, starting in what was then our minis program.   On Saturday 11 November, Matthew made 58 runs from 74 balls and Riley made 51 runs from 68 balls against Whitford’s Blue at Chichester Park.  The team were in trouble at 8 for 80 but both boys managed to retire twice and helped the team to a total of 8 for 260.

Ethan Lloyd – Under 15’s.  Ethan has been playing Junior cricket at the Club since 2007 when he was five.  He joined the Baggy Maroon club on Sunday 12 November by scoring 72 against the Ocean Ridge Sharks. With a number of batsmen losing their wickets around him, Ethan kept his nerve to make his fifty and push on to give the team a defendable score of 203.

Andre Amonini – Under 15’s .  Andre has been playing Junior cricket at the Club since 2010. He earnt his Baggy Maroon on Sunday 26 November by scoring 51 not out off 64 balls against Joondalup Kinross. After supporting Ethan in the previous game it was Andre’s turn to post a big score for the team as they pushed to 220.

Josh Timbrell – Under 13 Gold.  Josh opened the batting and built his innings while keeping the opening bowlers good deliveries out. When the opportunity arose he put the bad balls away. His early innings is a series of dot balls and singles with 3 x 4’s. After retiring not out the team were able to produce enough retirees to allow Josh to bat again. He took full toll and was able to crash a further 6 x 4’s. The way that Josh built his innings is something that his coaches had been asking him to do and they were very proud of his achievement.

Well done boys, you’ve made your team, your families and our club very proud.
